5 Tips to Prevent Computers from Ransomware Viruses

Ransomware is a class of viruses or malware on computers that is very cruel. Because if the computer is exposed, then all important files will be encrypted and cannot open them. It takes a decryptor to be able to save it again.

1. Install Additional Antivirus Programs

Do not think Windows Defender alone is enough to ward off malware. Because most cases of computers affected by ransomware are not installing additional antivirus programs. There are tons of free antivirus programs available today, and use one of the popular ones.

Just use one, because using multiple antivirus programs will only make the device heavy. Using a paid antivirus is also recommended, because sometimes it has drive protection features against ransomware, one of which is Malwarebytes.

2. Don’t Download Pirated Programs

Sometimes it’s nice to be able to enjoy paid programs for free, but of course there are side effects. We don’t know if the program was inserted by malicious code in it that exposed the computer to ransomware.

For this reason, from now on it is better not to download pirated programs on untrusted sites, and only buy and download them on official sites to avoid ransomware.

3. Avoid Downloading EXE or MSI Format Files from Email

5. Don’t Open Unknown Programs

For example, you find a program file (EXE format) and it suddenly appears on the drive or download folder. It’s a good idea not to open the file if you don’t recognize it.
