The Right Way to Unlock Blocked Subscenes

Subscene is the largest free subtitle or subtitle sharing website on the internet. Each user is free to create their own subtitles and share them there to the public. But basically the website is not official/legal so there are lots of pages that are edited takedown by film companies on a Google search.

In the middle of 2022, Subscene blocked by Kominfo. Of course, many netizens are disappointed, because during the pandemic COVID-19 can no longer open the site to download movie/video subtitles.

But you don’t have to worry, because there are few ways to open a blocked Subscene site and of course this method is safe and easy to do.

1. Use VPN Only When Opening Subscene

Using VPN

The first way that is guaranteed to work 100% to access a blocked Subscene is to use a VPN network. All it takes is to download a free VPN app/program available on the Play Store, Apps Store, or Microsoft Store. Examples like Touch VPN.

So before accessing Subscene, enable VPN first. And when it’s connected, please try opening the Subscene website again. Surely now it is no longer blocked and can directly download the desired translation.

Besides using a VPN, there are other ways that I think are just as easy to do. Please continue to listen to the second method.

2. Set DNS Server Manually

Using DNS

Unlike a VPN, which can affect IP addresses, DNS is only a revolver of the internet network. So by default the DNS you use is the default operator, but if you replace it with another DNS, of course all blocked sites will be accessible even if you don’t use a VPN.

Here I suggest using DNS from Cloudflare, namely 1.1.1.1. If on Android, you can download the application on the Play Store or the Apps Store. But if on a computer, please set it manually in the IPv4 network settings.

Here’s how to manually set DNS in Windows 10 so you can open blocked Subscenes:

  1. Open Windows search and type Control Panel.

  2. Then go to the menu Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.

  3. After that click menu Change adapter settings which is at the top left.

  4. Right-click on the WiFi adapter or Modem you are using, and select Properties.

  5. Then double click on Internet Protocol Version 4.

  6. Enable on option Use the following DNS Server addresses.

  7. Then in the first column, fill in 1.1.1.1and the second column fill in 1.0.0.1.

  8. The last step click the button OK.

After setting it according to the steps above, it is highly recommended to do DNS flush. The method is very easy, please open Command Prompt (CMD) and then type the code below, then ENTER.

ipconfig /flushdns

After that try to access the Subscene, of course now it can be opened properly without any more problems.

In addition to Cloudflare’s DNS, you can also use other DNS that is capable of unblocking access on the internet. Or you can also use a DNS Proxy which is guaranteed to be very effective in opening all types of websites that are being blocked.

Hopefully useful and good luck
